“It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

~ Jesus

Why give?

  • we give joyfully and bountifully toward eternity

    The Expectation of Generosity

Throughout the Bible, God instructs his people to give in ways that are bountiful, ungrudging, and sacrificial. This kind of giving glorifies God and can make an eternal difference.

“Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

    2 Corinthians 9:6–7

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, … but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven. … For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

    Matthew 6:19–21

  • We Can't out-give the giver

    The Enabling of Generosity

Everything we have is already a gift from God; we are merely stewards of what he has entrusted to us. We are generous because we know that God has provided for us and trust that he will provide for us as he enables even more generosity.

“And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.”

    2 Corinthians 9:8

  • We follow the sacrificial example of God

    The Example of Generosity

There is no greater example of sacrificial generosity than our Lord Jesus Christ. He is God's greatest gift to us. The Father gave his first, best, and only. The Son humbly gave of himself.

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.”

    2 Corinthians 8:9

“Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!”

    2 Corinthians 9:15

As a faithful steward of God’s resources entrusted to me, I will generously give today toward eternity:
